Prevent Falls with Stair Treads - Home Tips

Millions of people are injured each year from falls in the home, but you can help prevent them in your home by using carpet stair treads. Protect your family from dangerous falls and slip related injuries. Stair treads are one easy and inexpensive way to keep your family safe.

Stair treads should be a must in your home if you have children or elderly adults living with you, as these two groups have the greatest risk for fall related injuries. For older adults, a fall can have devastating consequences if it breaks a hip bone or creates another injury. Of fall injuries, a significant number happen on a home's stairs and a study on insurance costs found that only car accidents created more insurance costs than fall injuries.

Many people overlook their stairs when they are making their homes safer. They install alarms and locks, buy mats for their bathtub, and put in smoke detectors. While these safety features are all important, protecting your family from falls is also important. We often take for granted that hand railing will keep everyone safe on the stairs, but this just isn't the case.

Stair tread should provide a non-slippery surface on your stairs. Whether your stairs are concrete, wood, or carpet, you can add additional protection to them. You can find stair treads made out of rubber, metal, or braided materials. You can also use carpet treads on wood floors to stop people from slipping on them.

You'll find that buying carpet stair treads is cheaper than installing full carpet on your stairs. The treads will also look attractive next to wood flooring. Look for treads that will not only look great but will also allow you to see the depth and width of the steps. This will also help individuals walk up and down safely.

In addition to the stair treads, encourage your family to turn on the lights when they need to go up or down the stairs. Many people try to navigate in the dark and either slip or they trip on items that have been left on the stairs. Using the lights will help you see any obstacles and help you see where you need to place your feet to safely make it up or down.

Installing carpet stair treads will help you keep your family and guests safe from unintentional falls. They are easy to install and will cost you less than fully carpeting your stairs. Don't forget to make your stairs safer as you add safety items to other parts of your home.

An often overlooked safety feature for your home is carpet stair treads

Wood Rot Problems In Your House

Let me give you some advice right now," All Wood Rots Eventually". I have heard it all when it comes to this wood or that wood lasting this long or that long........ Hello....... All wood is going to rot at some period of it's life.

With that out of the way we can focus on some wood seems to last a little longer under certain conditions.

Teak is a wood that has a lot of natural oil in it. But you won't frame a house with it. Teak is used on boats and expensive outdoor furniture. It is a excellent wood to use when building a ship. The woods natural oils seem to create a protective barrier around it allowing it to last a long time even at sea. Great wood for the outdoors...

Oak is a excellent choice for almost every wood finish inside your home. It is used for kitchen cabinets, entertainment centers, flooring, trim and furniture. Oak is a hard wood and can take a lot of abuse from almost anything except water. I have seen a nice piece of furniture get stained from just setting one glass on it for ten minutes. Great Wood For Inside Your Home.

Poplar is also a great choice for inside your house. This wood is used by many finish carpenters for making cabinets and other built ins for your house. It is also popular not poplar for wood trim . Most of the poplar that is used inside of your home will eventually get painted. So that makes poplar a inexpensive choice of wood for homeowners that want a nice painted finish on their interior wood projects. Great Wood For Inside Your Home.

Douglas Fir is the most common source of lumber used on the west coast of the United States. This is a extremely durable wood product. On the East Coast they use southern pine and the nominal thickness is usually two inches by four inches for a 2 x 4 . With Douglas Fir a 2 x 4 is one inch and a half by three and one half inches to support the same weight structurally. In my opinion one of the best home framing materials.

Douglas Fir can and has been for a long time now. A great source for clear finish materials used inside of the house. You will see a nice orange or brown looking piece of wood stained naturally in some older home. This is Douglas Fir. It can be a bit pricy but really gives a log cabin look to your home.

Redwood is a great choice for inside or outside your home. I love Redwood it has a nice look to it stained naturally. Redwood is used for a lot of siding, fences, decks and out door furniture. The main problem with Redwood is that is is soft and will get scratched easily. Now for the facts about Redwood. It does rot and termites will eat it.

Wood myth number one eliminated. I have heard stories about wood that termites won't eat. Well Redwood is not one of them. I have seen termites tearing this stuff up. Don't get caught up in the hype that this or that wood will last for 5 years or 50 years. Under the right conditions almost all woods will rot at a accelerated rate.

Breaking Free From Inertia

Inertia is to remain at rest, do nothing, and unchanged. I remember when my life was full of inertia. I was really busy going nowhere really fast.

Business as usual is one of the quickest ways to the grave I can think of. Whether it be the literal 6 feet under or the sad state of complacent existence to many people are willing to live their lives in. Life is very wonderful, and each day should bring about the sense of discovery a child has.

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in they gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." - Theodore Roosevelt

One of the biggest forms of inertia holding people back today is the addiction to media, be it the Internet, television, or print. The general public seems to never get enough of the news, sitcoms, and magazines that have no real purpose. Oh no, I used the P word. Without purpose we are hopelessly bound to a world where nothing really ever changes, and without action our purpose is lost.

Developing a purpose is like making a business plan. A purpose should be something that creates a fiery passion inside. Choose it with care, and focus your energy on it one step at a time. Consider these things when defining your purpose.

1 What do I do well?

2 What do I like to do?

3 Who do I admire, and would like to emulate?

A healthy, realistic, and positive attitude are the key to success in any endeavor we set our minds on. The road is full of people bound by inertia who are more than willing to help us stay stuck in the rut we might be in. That leaves us as our one and only motivator, don't expect your family or friends to jump onto your dream with you when the next episode of House is on.

There are however, many like minded people who care about nurturing the relationship of success. Networking with others is essential for breaking the bonds of inertia and propelling a purpose towards the successful path we have envisioned. Seek out these people in your local community, online, and any other way you can think of for they are the key to making dreams a reality. Networking is the single biggest factor for personal or company success, and we are all you INC. so network.

Conservation Marketing

Times are tough, somewhat like the Great Depression. Still, we must all have hope and realize people still survived during those troubling times and some even got rich. Necessity has always been the mother of invention and uncertain times call for extraordinary creativity. These are times when staying inside the box will kill your business.

Restructuring our mentality for growth has many facets, requires persistence, and brings about lasting change for the better. Conservation is of the utmost importance today while our ecological and economic worlds are in peril. The human race simply cannot afford the luxury of wanton disregard for both.

Conservation is the cutting edge of opportunity no matter the field it is what the world needs. The call to action has never been more clear for creative people to rise up and solve problems rather than adding to them. Where does that leave the get rich quick peddlers? They should be running for cover because their day in the sun is up, it is time for the new breed of Internet Marketers to take control. It is time to let value, economy, and integrity rule the face of online marketing instead of up sell escalator routine we are so familiar with. Let's face it does anybody really like all the browser controlling pop up, fly in garbage we are being fed? No, only a fool would like to be manipulated in such a way.

I have a rule of thumb I go by when shopping for anything:

1 If I can't afford the price I won't but it.

2 If I don't like the price I won't buy it.

3 If the quality is low I won't buy it.

4 If I don't like the presentation I won't buy it.

5 If it seems to good to be true I won't buy it.

6 If it is an up sell before I have even purchased chances are I won't by it.

My rules are simple. I like to be treated fairly and in exchange I am willing to pay a fair price for almost anything. I admire straight shooting with a lack of theatrics to get into my wallet.

The entitlement mentality is still running rampant in our societies today. Getting paid what you are worth has taken on some fairly obviously erroneous forms, after all who is worth a five or six figure income who has not put out some effort for it? Nobody, and people usually learn the hard way that getting rich overnight is a pipe dream.

Design your business and your life around conservation, commitment, and courage. Tough times require fortitude and especially in marketing. There are no easy meals in the marketing house you must work for your food. Roll up your sleeves and learn to earn with Internet Marketing.

Website Navigation

Website navigation is an important part when creating your money making website. Your visitors need to easily be able to navigate around your site; if not they might get frustrated and leave. Also when your website is easy to navigate around visitors are more likely to return to finish reading certain articles that they were interested in, but didn't have time to read. Search engines also look at how easy your website is to navigate when they send their spiders in to crawl your site. A more easily navigable site could help your search engine ranking, which we are trying to get.

What is website navigation?

Basically it is how visitors are able to get from one page to another in your website. All of your pages should be linked together clearly and easily for your visitors, you never want to confuse your visitors.
The website blueprint of your site should give you a good starting point for interlinking your websites pages. Your site should consist of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 pages, please read article Website Blueprint for more information on this. Within these pages you may also want to add links to related articles so the visitor can easily choose which information they want to see.

You should also think about adding a site index or map to your website, basically a site index is a list of every page in your website please use our Site Index as an example. You should add all of your pages to your site index broken down into related categories. You should also add a small description of what the visitor will find on each page. A site index is especially good to have when it
comes to search engines, search engines will pick up on your site index and see that your site is easy to navigate.

Also remember to add your income outlets into your navigation. Your main goal is to navigate your visitors to these links; this way your site can generate an income.

Real Estate Investing Strategies for Flipping Houses

If you're like most real estate investment wannabes, you've taken seminars, read books, watched infomercials and DVDs, and have spent considerable amounts of money to learn about the ins and outs of the field. If you're still struggling with how to get started, here are some of successful investors favorite ways to make money in real estate.

The first has become popular with the advent of several television programs. It's popularly known as flipping houses, which just means buying, fixing up, and reselling a property for a profit. It sounds simple enough. Find a rundown house, spend what can be a considerable amount of time and money to upgrade and repair it, and then recoup that investment, along with a sizable profit, when you resell the property.

Other investors like to buy homes that are in need of the repairs and upgrades you see so often portrayed on television and sell them WITHOUT doing the repairs. It's not as crazy as it sounds. All it involves is buying a property by contract, structuring that contract so that you have the right to sell the underlying to a building contractor or other investor who will have the means to be able to subcontract out the work.

This process is sometimes called bird dogging or wholesaling. Investors don't make as much per transaction, but the turnaround time is much faster. You don't have to deal with the 101 things that can and do go wrong, as you well know if you're a fan of the various television shows that follow the ups and downs of investors as they try to flip their homes.

Real estate investors have always looked for houses that have the potential to be fixed up and upgraded and then resold at a profit. That's partly because, depending upon how hot your local real estate may be, the potential profits can be in the five-digit range for each transaction.

There are dangers, of course, since many projects have at least one hidden problem that throws a giant monkey wrench into the process, reducing profits and lengthening the time to finish. Therefore, it's important for you to know your market and how much things will cost to repair before you start working this popular investment strategy.

Lease options can also be a profitable way to get into a rundown house, bring it up to standard, and then either resell or rent it, depending upon your taste. This allows you to generally get into a house without the real estate agent's fees, which can be considerable. Once you've got the property up to standard, you can then sell the home on a lease option to someone else, which is generally good, because they'll have more incentive to keep it nice.

There are many other ways to make money in real estate, of course, but these are some investors favorites. The main thing is to pick a strategy you're comfortable with and stick to it until you're an expert at it!
